Are you wondering what a Connect trip is like? Are you a first time solo traveler? Or perhaps you have a limited number of vacation days and can’t make it to one of our 10+ day Connect trips.

Join us in Traverse City, Michigan for 3 days!

Enjoy the pleasant September weather in Northern Michigan’s wine country. We’ll go wine tasting, sail around the bay, and more. Everything will be taken care of and you get to simply soak it all in and relax!

Who is Michigan Connect for?

  • Those who have the ability to be easy-going and flexible and—most of all—understand that travel can be unpredictable (e.g. the weather)

  • Ability to carry one’s own luggage—potentially up/down stairs

  • Travelers who speak English (other language skills are a bonus!)

USD $425/person

*Fee is inclusive of accommodations (non-smoking), ground transportation during the Connect weekend, scheduled activities, meals, and gratuities.

*BONUS: Fee includes a 20% discount on any other Connect trip within the next 18 months.

Deposit: $200 is due upon registration to save your spot

Registration Deadline: July 23, 2018

Trip balance is due August 3, 2018.

  1. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from Traverse City. For participants flying to Michigan – feel free to contact us for recommended airports (there is an airport in Traverse City) and we’re happy to help with ground transportation if you’re flying in to an airport outside of the city.
  2. This trip requires a minimum of 6 participants (max 25).
  3. Participants are required to purchase individual travel insurance when traveling outside of their country of citizenship. We recommend World Nomads – click here to get a quote via our affiliate partnership.


The following is the itinerary for Michigan Connect:

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Arrive in Traverse City no later than 12:00 p.m.

We will kick off the weekend with a welcome lunch at 1:00 p.m.

After getting settled at the hotel, we’ll set sail and take in some breathtaking scenery on Lake Michigan. There might even be a couple of fun surprises!

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We’ll start the day with various activity options for your to choose from. These will include a trip to town, exercise, local history, and more. You can also choose to sleep in and go at your own pace. Weather permitting, you can also spend time by the pool or beach.

In the afternoon, we’ll experience a wine tour through Old Mission Peninsula and sample some of the best wine in the Midwest!Traverse City is on the 45th parallel. This halfway point between the equator and the north pole is the perfect place to grow grapes. We’ll fill you in more about that in Sept! We’ll take you to 3 wineries for tastings and you’ll have plenty of time to walk through the vineyards and enjoy the views. (*3 tastings are included in the Connect trip fee. Anything else you purchase on the wine tour is your responsibility.)

And we’ll end the day with dinner and entertainment.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Mid-morning, we’ll head downtown Traverse City. The downtown area has shops that sell clothes, souvenirs, tea, coffee, cherry products, and much more. If you don’t like to shop, enjoy walking through the quaint town or head out to the boardwalk on the bay.

We’ll gather for a farewell lunch at 1:00 p.m. and conclude the weekend by 2:30 p.m. (For those that want to do some more shopping or site seeing, feel free to stay the afternoon!)

Onsite Concierge and Guide

Michigan Connect will be led by Julie Slagter – founder of Creative Travel Connections and born and raised in Michigan. She will lead all group excursions and serve as your concierge for solo adventures. We also partner with local businesses/experts for certain aspects of Connect trips.

Fees and Cancellation Policy

The fee is inclusive of accommodations, ground and sea transportation, admission tickets, meals as noted on the itinerary, and gratuities.

  1. A $200 USD non-refundable deposit is due upon registration.
  2. Full payment is required 45 days before the trip.
  3. Cancellations up to 45 days before the trip are subject to a 5% administrative fee based on the full registration cost. 20-45 days before the trip: 15% administrative fee. 0-20 days before the trip: 25% administrative fee. The $500 deposit is non-refundable.
  4. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from the Connect trip destination.
  5. Participants are required to purchase individual travel insurance when traveling outside of their country of citizenship. We recommend World Nomads – click here to get a quote via our affiliate partnership.

Other Important Information

  • For international travelers, passport must be valid for at least 6 months after date of travel in order to board flights.

  • You will be sent a packing list and any other relevant information upon deposit. Really…you just need to pack and get to the destination!

  • Travelers will meet each other virtually before the trip.
